Christmas - Five Times

Seriously dad? You're so embarassing

Cohen says:

Merry kind-of-depressing-time-between-Christmas-and-New-Years to you all! Now that we're a couple days removed, its probably about time to settle in for the evening and upload some photographic evidence from our 5-stop Christmas. You certainly won't ever catch me complaining about having so much loving family or about getting presents repeatedly, but if you're half as exhausted after reading this as I was after experiencing it, then my job here will be done.

Cohen has become a more refined gift opener this year

Is it a swimming pool?

The first stop for our 4 wheeled Christmas Train (brought to you be Chevrolet) took us to Grandpa and Grandma's house. As has been the tradition due to travel concerns, this Christmas actually happened a week early, but don't worry, we have Santa fully trained on where to find us. This first Christmas was actually a two-day affair where I got to see lots of Aunts and Uncles on Saturday, and then after spending the night at Grandpa's house, we got to have a (pre)Christmas morning!

I do have to say that I'm still pretty sure I heard Santa at Grandpa's house. When I woke up on Sunday morning, I heard loud footsteps and jingling upstairs. Daddy assures me that it was actually Auntie Tum-Tum's new Great Dane that was wearing a bell, but I have my doubts.

Callie thinks no one is watching

....but got caught!

We don't actually have any pictures from Christmas #2 (cause SOMEONE forgot the camera), so you'll have to use your imagination. This was a trip to my cousin Chelsie's house (Pam, Jeff, and Bre live here too) which is always fun in my eyes. Not only did I get to bug Chelsie the whole time we were there, but I also got to go for a walk and look at their cool Christmas lights. I don't understand why some people don't put up lights!

Our tree. Not enough presents IMO

Christmas #3, also known as the "Main Event" was Christmas at home. After Christmas #2, we got home in time to put out milk, cookies, and carrots for Santa and his reindeer, write a quick note to Santa (and I quote " Dear Santa, I want an Xbox and Callie is naughty"), and get to bed. Luckily, sleep passes the time quickly so that we could wake up and get at some more PRESENTS!

Santa's dollhouse, etc for Callie

An Xbox 360 and Zurg Blaster for Cohen

Just discovering what he got

Callie wasn't quite sure about it all

I was just a little worried that I might have been on Santa's naughty list this year, but looks like my worries were for not. Santa brought me an Xbox 360 Kinect (which I tell most people is an "X marks the spot from cousin Matt's house") and he even brought my naughty sister a huge doll house. Santa also must've realized that I wouldnt be able to get the xbox set up right away, so he got me a cool Zurg blaster that allows me to shoot annoying little foam balls at all my family members. Thanks Santa!

Check this out Coco!

How do they fit inside?

Mommy! Princesses!

Still waking up

A good picture of one of them...

I hope it's a TV for my room!

Frosty the Snoooowwmaaaan!

This is how Callie opens presents!

Mommy, I think Christmas #3 went well

As soon as we opened presents at the White House and had a few minutes to play, we stayed in our jammies and headed to Mimi and Papa's house to have Christmas #4 and brunch with the Johnson's. Unfortunately, daddy spent most of his focus video taping the carnage that was 4 kids under the age of 4 opening presents rather than taking pictures, and the 20 minute video is to big to upload, so we don't have much to display.

Picture it this way: Wrapping and tissue paper raining from the sky like confetti in Times Square on NYE, while 4 small kids screamed in a way that would only rival the teenyboppers at a Justin Bieber concert. That said, those are signs of good times, right? As always, sharing time with my cousins is a favorite, so the only bad part was that we had to leave kind of early to get to Christmas #5.

Bieber!!!

A spill lead to this nice outfit

He's turning into such a man

Let me get the presents!

Our final Christmas stop landed us at Grammy's house on the evening of the 25th to have Christmas with She-She, Brian, and fetus Landen. Luckily for us ( and probably the adults around us) the 1.5 hour drive from Bellingham to Seattle allowed us to catch a nap so we were refreshed and ready to go at Grammy's for our full night of fun, including a sleep-over!

Ok, maybe Callie needed a longer nap

Wait, what did Callie get?!

She lost her present opening patience!

Ta-Da!

Callie on her new Minnie Mouse bike

I probably say this every year and will continue to going forward, but this was the best christmas yet. Callie and I are so lucky to have such a big, loving family that we were able to spend time with, and glad that we get to see them regularly and not just on special occasions.

Merry New Year's!

Mommy - I think this Kindle Fire was for me

Grammy has "Little Einsteins" too!

Gotta go - video games are calling

East 542 for Sledding

Let's do this in style!

Callie says:

was the first day of Christmas Vacation for our family, so we decided to hop in the family roadster and find some snow, because we certainly aren't getting any around here anytime soon. Lucky for us, a quick trip North on Highway 9 and East on 542 gets us to Mt Baker and plenty of snow. Try to keep up, and hopefully the pictures don't leave you as exhausted as they left us!

Look out snow, Cohen's here!

Video: What are we doing?

Is this a good idea?

The snow events in my brief life so far have been far and few in between, so most of my expectations were derived from TV shows and movies on how to play in the snow. Unfortunately, those do a terrible job of preparing you for how cold the snow actually is! Luckily, mommy had us bundled up pretty good, which was beneficial not only from a temperature standpoint, but also from an extra padding standpoint. This came in pretty handy when falling off the sled, etc.

Climbing the almost vertical hill

Oops, I forgot the sled!

A Winter Wonderland

Video: Ready, set, go!

Running a little sideways

For anyone looking for a good place to sled, I'd definitely give this 8.5 snowflakes (on the 10 snowflake scale, of course). The facilities were slightly lacking, but as long as you bring snacks, you'll be good. Also, it helps if you go on a day when it's snowing pretty heavily, which adds greatly to the wintery feel.

Trekking back to the car

I refuse to go another step!

Video: trying to find the best hill

To all the parents out there, if you're ever looking to wear out your children, FIND SNOW! Whether it's climbing up hills and sledding down face first (Cohen), hitching a ride up the hill and sledding down with mommy or daddy (Me), or just trying to run around in general, it's exhausting!

Merry Christmas!

Exhausted!

I think we're done here

Cohen likes Santa, Callie likes Candy Canes

Cohen likes Santa, Callie likes the Candy Cane

Cohen says:

Happy Christmakah! We've hit the month of December, which means that the countdown to the big day is on! While our family has developed quite a few holiday traditions in our few years of existence, maybe my favorite is our trip to see Santa to give him our Christmas Lists and give the parents a photo opportunity.

For those that aren't in the know, our Santa tradition is to park the family wagon at the Seattle Center, check out the Space Needle a bit, and then catch Santa's train to his workshop (read: The Monorail to the Nordstrom Flagship store at Westlake).

Dressed up? No, we always match like this..

I think those letters say: "Santa's Train"

All aboard!

Keep up Callie!

Mom, can you pull her along any faster?

A big hug for Cohen - Callie was hugging a Candy Cane

A Candy Cane Hug

Our trip to see Santa this year was great. The line was short, and I found him to be much less scary this year for some reason. Unfortunately, Callie was a bit timid so a lot of the focus was on getting her to forget that she was sitting on Santa's lap. Personally, I don't get it. He smells like peppermint, brings you toys that you ask for, and stars in a wide range of movies/tv specials/musical hits this time of year. We tried to post a video of the visit, but had some trouble, so maybe soon!

This horse is very statue-like

Seriously mom? The boys are watching!

Gotta catch the return train - see ya soon!
